A Major Source of Energy is Right Under your Feet.
Your own backyard has the potential to be your source of heating and cooling comfort. Now you can get safe, reliable, energy efficient heating and cooling from one piece of equipment. Geothermal energy represents the leading edge of heating and cooling technology. It moves heat energy to and from the earth to heat and cool your indoor environment. And compared to ordinary systems, geothermal technology can save you 30% to 60% on your monthly energy bills. Geothermal is the safest, cleanest, most reliable space conditioning system you can own.

How Does it Work?
The earth absorbs almost 50% of all solar energy and in the Pacific Northwest remains a relatively constant temperature of around 55 degrees F. (13 degrees C.) depending on geographic location. Working with an underground loop system, geothermal heating and cooling systems utilize this constant temperature to exchange energy between your home and the earth as needed for heating and cooling.

In winter, water circulating inside a sealed underground loop system absorbs heat from the earth and carries it to the geothermal unit. Here it is compressed to a higher temperature and sent as warm air to your indoor system for circulation throughout your home.

In the summer, the system reverses and expels heat from your home into the cooler earth via the loop system. This heat exchange process is not only natural, but is also a highly efficient way to create a comfortable climate in your home.

There are several loop configurations available. They can either be vertical, horizontal, or submerged in a nearby lake or ocean. The best application will depend on the characteristics of your property. SOLACE can show you which type of loop system is best suited for your home.

Here are some of the Benefits of Geothermal Ownership

  • Lower operating costs: Geothermal systems operate more efficiently than ordinary heating and air conditioning systems - 30% to 60% in most cases.
  • Comfortable: Because the system uses the relatively stable temperature of the earth as an energy source, you are assured of constant, even winter heating and better humidity control in summer.
  • Safe and clean: No flame, no flue, no odors - just safe reliable operation year after year.
  • Flexibility: The unit provides heating, central air conditioning and hot water all from the same compact unit.
  • Economical Water Heating: Water heating can be a significant energy expense. Geothermal units can reduce the high cost of water heating by as much as 66%.
  • Attractive: The completely self-contained indoor unit needs no noisy, unsightly outside condensing unit.
  • Environment: The system emits no carbon dioxide, which is considered a major contributor to environmental air pollution.
  • Worry Free Warranties: In the unlikely event of a service problem, geothermal systems are covered by the best warranty in the industry.
