Indoor Air Quality
We can't live without air. Lots of it
- clean, fresh air, full of life-giving oxygen. Yet our
homes today are built to keep fresh air out, all in the
name of energy efficiency. Even if you don't live in an
ultra-efficient home, you have probably spent some time
recently weather stripping doors and windows, caulking around
frames, filling walls and attics with insulation.
As a result, you've cut your heating and
air conditioning costs. Excellent. But at the same
time you have made it more difficult for fresh air to move
into your home and for stale air to move out. The indoor
air quality has deteriorated, and that makes the home environment
uncomfortable and unhealthy.
Study after study shows that as homes
become tighter and more energy efficient, more contaminants
become trapped inside. The air we breathe in our homes is
loaded with pollutants like pollen, lung damaging dust,
pet hair, dander, dust mites, tobacco smoke, spores, disease-causing
bacteria and viruses.
Considering the typical throwaway furnace
filter only traps about 5 - 15% of these polluting particles
and that the slightest traces of pollutants can trigger
miserable reactions for allergy sufferers, you need serious
help.
Solace Homeworks offers a variety of effective,
efficient and technologically advanced products to improve
the air quality in your home including:
- Air Cleaners
- Air Purifiers
- Humidifiers
- Health Concerns

1. Air Cleaners
The Aprilaire Media Air Cleaner
is a silent, low-maintenance, inexpensive air filtration
system. It utilizes a simple, remarkably effective HEPA-type
filtering media that actually improves its particulate-capturing
capability the longer it is used. For particles larger than
five microns, efficiency reaches 99%. Even the smallest
particles, as small as one micron, can be filtered out at
95% effectiveness. The high-density filter unit is attached
to your existing heating or cooling system, where it captures
pollutants from conditioned air before it is distributed
to the rooms of your home.

Benefits
- Never less than 99% efficient on pollen and spores
- 60% average efficiency on all particles
- Provides allergy relief. Ask your doctor
- Air Cleaner media lasts one to two years
- Protects heating and cooling equipment
- Absolutely silent operation
- Uses no electricity
- Lifetime limited warranty

Bryant's EzFlex air cleaner
helps reduce the effects of airborne pollutants by trapping
particles as small as .3 microns. It's much more effective
than a furnace filter and even easier to maintain. Just
pull out the cartridge-type filter and push in a new one
- no monthly cleanings or maintenance necessary.
Ezflexl air cleaners
can help your entire system operate more efficiently
by reducing dirt and dust build-up on the system's components.
This means lower utility bills. By keeping your system clean,
this air cleaner promotes long-term reliability and peak
performance season after season.

The Lifebreath Air Cleaner originated
by Nutech removes close to 100% of coarser particles such
as pollen, fungus spores, dust, animal dander and dirt;
removes close to 90% of tobacco and wood smoke particles
and some bacteria.
Nutech researched and discovered that
when particle-laden air is forced through a narrow airway,
the particles are repeatedly flung against the internal
walls. If the walls are smooth, the particles bounce off
and re-enter the air stream.
In the Lifebreath Air Cleaner,
the walls of the internal airway through which dirty air
passes are made of a pleated fabric, which traps particles
as they are flung out of the air stream. The result is a
high rate of removal of even the smallest particles, with
no filters to obstruct the flow of air. This revolutionary
new technology is called Turbulent Flow Precipitation (TFP).
The TFP gives the kind of performance needed to maintain
excellent Indoor Air Quality.

2. Air Purifiers
The Sanuvox Ultraviolet Air Purifier
incorporates a UV purification process to destroy not
only mold, mildew, fungus, formaldehyde and smoke - Sanuvox
will also irradiate viruses and bacteria such as legionella,
tuberculosis and anthrax to name a few.
The Patented Sanuvox Process
Unlike air cleaners, Sanuvox does not use conventional filters
to decrease the effects of noxious odors. By utilizing a
patented "J" shaped Dual Zone Mercury Vapour Ultraviolet
Lamp, a Turbulator to slow and spin the air and an Aluminum
Chamber to intensify the UV light, the process is able to
recreate the effects of sunlight to destroy chemical and
biological contaminants and neutralize odors.
Sanuvox's "J" Lamp produces
UV-C and UV-V light. UV-C is short-wave germicidal radiation.
This wavelength's primary uses are for the destruction of
bacteria, viruses and other micro organisms which pass through
the Aluminum Chamber. UV-V is used for oxidation. This is
the portion of the lamp which will neutralize odors and
destroy chemicals in the air. Both UV wavelengths work together
to destroy the contaminants within your home, office or
building.

Sanovox has a Purifier to solve virtually
any Indoor Air Quality problem, and is the only manufacturer
to offer a complete line of Air Purifiers. Sanuvox Purifiers
are used in thousands of homes, doctors and dentists offices,
hospitals, veterinary clinics, health clubs, office buildings,
hotels, bars and restaurants.
Benefits
- Most effective UV Air Purification system on the market
- Irradiates bacteria, viruses and mold
- Destroys chemical and biological odors
- Airflow sensor automatically turns unit on and off
- In-duct installation or portable option
- 3 year warranty on parts and lamps
3. Humidifiers
In order to make your home as comfortable
as possible, you need to add moisture to the air. Doing
so reduces dry throat and skin, static shocks, keeps furniture
and your home from drying out and increases energy efficiency.
It's become well known that a home with moisture feels warmer
than a dry home, even at a lower temperature setting.
The Aprilaire line of automatic humidifiers
is the world's first computer equipped, completely automated,
'no touch' humidifier. It never needs constant manual adjustments.
The advanced computer technology measures the outdoor temperature
and indoor humidity over 86,000 times a day and continually
adjusts your home's indoor humidity to its optimum level.
Benefits
- Eliminates parched, dry air throughout the entire home
automatically
- Generates up to 50% more humidity for improved comfort,
well being, preservation and energy savings than manual
units
- Exclusive automated "no touch" computer operation
eliminates the need to constantly make manual adjustments
- Senses changes in relative humidity instantaneously
- Built-in bypass damper means fewer parts to install
4. Indoor
Air Quality Health Concerns and Needs
SOLACE Energy Centre is the HEALTHY HOME
Information Centre for anyone interested in improving their
Indoor Air Quality. We have recently joined forces with
Sig Jantzen, a CHMC trained Indoor Air Quality inspector.
He offers practical solutions for improving and maintaining
the environmental health of your home and, therefore, you
and your family.
"Proper ventilation is now being
recognized as a key contributor to good health. Many people
who suffer from allergies, asthma, chemical sensitivities
and chronic fatigue are living in poorly ventilated homes,
which perpetuate or worsen their health problems".
During a professional consultation, Sig
educates individuals as to the hazards posed by pollutants,
and suggests affordable improvements. He also recommends
products, suppliers and contractors, such as SOLACE, who
can further improve the quality of your home or office environment.
For home purchasers, Sig can provide an
environmental assessment along with a property inspection.
For those wishing to renovate, he can recommend more appropriate
methods of construction types of material for avoiding toxic
emissions, and creating a healthier environment.
